Description
PURC Brazilian Keratin Treatment 12% Very Resistant Hair 300ml
Transform very thick, coarse and resistant hair with PURC Brazilian Keratin Treatment 12% Very Resistant Hair 300ml. This professional treatment combines a powerful traditional formula with Hydrolyzed Keratin for visibly straighter hair, intensive frizz control and easier styling.
Part of the original generation of traditional keratin treatments, PURC remains popular when mild formulas provide too little curl reduction. Glycerin, Sodium PCA, conditioning agents and silicones support softness, slip and shine. The 1 litre size suits repeated salon services, with free shipping from Everything Keratin.
Product benefits
- Powerful resistant hair straightening: Includes a professional 12% methanal formula activated by heat to substantially reduce tight curl and volume.

- Softer feel: Includes Hydrolyzed Keratin to condition rough and damaged areas along the hair fibre.
- Moisture supported finish: Includes Glycerin and Sodium PCA to attract moisture and reduce a dry feel.
- Improved detangling: Includes Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride and Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride for better slip and combability.
- Enhanced shine: Includes Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone to smooth the cuticle and increase gloss.
What makes this product different?
Rather than offering one formula for every client, PURC provides graduated strengths. This maximum strength 12% treatment is for thick, coarse, coily and highly resistant hair that does not respond sufficiently to gentler options. It delivers the decisive curl reduction associated with a traditional Brazilian blowout, supported by Keratin, humectants, conditioners and silicones for softness and shine. Choose it for powerful straightening, not light smoothing.
| PURC formula | When to choose it |
|---|---|
| 0% formaldehyde free | Fine, damaged to lightly curly hair. |
| 5% formalin | Wavy, frizzy to curly hair. |
| 8% formalin | Coarse, curly, thick and resistant hair. |
| 12% formalin | Very thick, coarse and coily hair requiring maximum strength. |
Does this suit my hair?
It’s best for:
- Very thick, coarse or highly resistant hair
- Tight curls, coils and difficult to straighten textures
- Strong, healthy hair requiring substantial curl and volume reduction
- Clients wanting a traditional Brazilian keratin treatment rather than gentle frizz control
- Salons requiring a 300ml keratin treatment
Professional application and colour compatibility
Use within a traditional clarify, apply, blow dry and flat iron protocol after professional assessment, strand testing and sensitivity testing. This 12% methanal formula requires effective local extraction ventilation, gloves and protective equipment. Avoid the scalp and oversaturation.
High heat may stress fragile fibres or shift colour. Do not use on severely damaged or highly sensitised hair. Choose a gentler PURC strength for bleached, highlighted, fine or delicate hair unless a qualified professional determines otherwise. Coordinate colouring with the stylist and test for colour change.
Frequently asked questions
How straight will PURC 12% make resistant hair?
It is PURC’s strongest option for substantial curl, frizz and volume reduction. Results depend on hair condition, texture, application and flat iron technique.
How long do the results last?
Results may last up to six months with correct application and aftercare. Texture, washing frequency, regrowth and maintenance products affect longevity.
Why choose the 12% formula instead of PURC 5% or 8%?
Choose 12% when very coarse, tightly curled or resistant hair needs maximum strength. Choose 5% for wavy to moderately curly hair or 8% for thick, resistant curls.
Does 12% mean the treatment contains 12% keratin?
No. It identifies the formalin or methanal formula strength, not the Hydrolyzed Keratin content. Methanal is another name for formaldehyde.
Is this a formaldehyde free keratin treatment?
No. Its ingredient list discloses Methanal. Heating the treatment can release formaldehyde into the air, making effective salon ventilation and professional controls essential.
Can it be used on coloured or bleached hair?
Coloured hair requires strand testing because heat may shift colour. For fragile, heavily bleached or overprocessed hair, consider PURC 0% or 5% following professional assessment.
How to use
How to use
Steps
- Wash the hair twice with a clarifying or purifying shampoo to remove oil, residue and product build-up. Rinse thoroughly.
- Blow dry the hair until it is completely dry.
- Put on protective gloves and divide the hair into four sections.
- Working in approximately 1.25 cm sections, apply a small amount of treatment evenly from near the roots to the ends. Avoid applying directly to the scalp and do not oversaturate the hair.
- Comb through with a wide tooth comb to distribute the treatment and remove any excess product.
- Cover the hair with a plastic cap. Process for 20 minutes on fine hair or approximately 30 minutes on thick, curly or resistant hair. Comb through every 10 minutes.
- Without rinsing, blow dry the hair completely in a well ventilated professional salon environment.
- Divide the hair into thin sections and pass a flat iron over each section 7 to 10 times. Use approximately 150–205°C for fine or compromised hair and 205–230°C for thick, healthy and very resistant hair. Always adjust the temperature and number of passes to the hair’s condition.
- Leave the treatment in the hair for 72 hours. During this period, avoid washing, tying, clipping or exposing the hair to moisture.
- After 72 hours, wash with a suitable maintenance shampoo and conditioner. Use a moisturising hair mask once weekly to help preserve softness, shine and frizz control.
Professional tip
This 12% formula contains methanal, another name for formaldehyde, and is intended for very resistant hair. It should only be applied by a trained professional using appropriate protective equipment and effective salon ventilation. Perform a strand test and sensitivity test before application, avoid contact with the scalp, eyes and skin, and never use excessive product because this can increase fumes during blow drying and flat ironing.

How do the key ingredients function in PURC Brazilian Keratin Treatment 12% Very Resistant Hair 300ml?
- Hydrolyzed Keratin: Conditions damaged areas of the hair, improves softness and helps reduce a rough, brittle feel.
- Methanal (Formaldehyde): The principal straightening active. It works with high heat to reshape and temporarily fix the hair into a straighter, smoother configuration.
- Glycerin: A humectant that attracts moisture and helps reduce dryness during the intensive smoothing process.
- Cetearyl Alcohol: A conditioning fatty alcohol that softens the hair and gives the treatment its creamy consistency.
- Behentrimonium Chloride: Conditions and detangles the hair while improving smoothness and manageability.
- Cetrimonium Chloride: Reduces static, assists detangling and helps control frizz.
- Sodium PCA: A moisture-binding ingredient that helps maintain hydration and softness.
- Cyclopentasiloxane: A lightweight silicone that improves slip, reduces friction and supports easier blow drying.

Why are customers choosing the PURC Brazilian Keratin Treatment 12% Very Resistant Hair 300ml over other traditional keratin treatment brands?
Our customers choose PURC Brazilian Keratin Treatment 12% Very Resistant Hair 300ml because it delivers the powerful, high impact straightening associated with the original generation of traditional Brazilian keratin treatments. This established and widely used formula remains hugely popular with customers who find that gentler keratin treatments are not strong enough for very thick, coarse, tightly curled or resistant hair. Unlike mild smoothing treatments focused mainly on frizz reduction, its professional 12% methanal formula works with high heat to create a visibly straighter, smoother and more manageable finish. Hydrolyzed Keratin conditions rough and damaged areas, while Glycerin, Sodium PCA, conditioning agents and silicones help maintain softness, slip and shine. The generous 300ml size also provides multiple applications, making it a practical choice for professional stylists and experienced keratin users seeking maximum smoothing strength and long lasting results from a traditional Brazilian keratin formula - Everything Keratin
